...I don't know enough about lady issues to understand how this even makes sense. Would someone please enlighten me?

When you're fertile, guys can smell it, that's the gist. They want to F you worse, cause they can smell that you'll get knocked up. You left out the part that women on the pill did not experience any earnings trends related to their cycles.
